bonding

bonding. i had not a chance to partake in such simple pleasure for a couple of months now.

i had thought i would only a few people in today’s outing. i was glad to see the original clique from my batch of aj wushu turn up too.

the singing, the photos, and just sittinf there and catching up with each other made me feel like i was back in the jc days, where life was simpler then.

bonding. made possible through great friends.

undeserving people

How do people get where they are?

I’ve seen people who do not deserve their rank or status abuse their power and position to the most outrageous of circumstances.

Yesterday’s DOS duty was eye-opening. I had always believed that we in Rocky Hill need to buck up and improve on ourselves; that because we had no government meant we had lower standards. After spending a day in Ladang, I realised how wrong I was.

Some of the COS on duty were lazy and sloppy. Their attire was improper, they showed up late for duty, and even disappeared from their duty an hour before their shift ended. To think we are called “commanders”. Its no wonder the common perception of Tekong is for those without standard.

A commander leaving his recruits out in the drizzle while he enjoys his lunch at his own pace? Unbelievable. If their own commanders do not give a damn, who will?

We as commanders must learn how to behave like one, before we can throw our weight of leadership into our teaching. It is difficult to expect people to listen to you just because you’re ranked higher in the ladder of status. We should be men of example, exemplary in our behaviour before we can demand the same from our charges.
